One Eyed Pool. Playing for Keeps.
Last week I met up with my cousin Stuart who is from Sydney but at the moment lives in Brixton, London.
He is a charming, witty and intelligent. (this sounds like a cheesy singles web site).
I promise you’re on the right website!
Needless to say I am very close to him, always have been. He is the youngest of 4 grown up children.
I have very fond memories of spending time with my mother’s sister’s family. Backyard pool cricket etc.
Stuart worked on the Sydney Olympic Committee, (s.o.c.o.g.), and as a result met others that are in all sorts of places doing jobs all over the globe. Stuart oozes charisma and knows people everywhere anyway.
The last place was exceptional…
It was a bright pink Spanish style mansion on Hamilton Island in the Whitsunday Islands on the Great Barrier Reef.
The house was built by an entrepreneur in the 1980’s who owned the main resort on the island at the time, decadence is a word that springs to mind when I think of describing it.
The island was eventually sold and the house with it.
A guy that my cousin knew and worked with at S.O.C.O.G. now runs the island and lives in the house as part of his job.
Unfortunately he had to go to L.A. for work, so he wasn’t there.
This house looks like it should be in a porno film or on Mtv cribs.
It has 6 bedrooms I think, a spa, pool, sauna with a two way mirror, heli pad and a helicopter, (just in case), 2 Rolls Royce’s, an indoor shooting range, (also just in case), a tennis court, a chapel, amazing grounds complete with a surreal view.
O P U L E N C E.
They use the chapel, helicopter and the rollers in wedding parties.
Steph and Brooke are girls that my cousin knows that both work on Hamilton and spent their spare time with us and showing us around.
On our first night there we went out for dinner, then we went to the yacht club and played pool where I was dealt a sound thrashing.
One eyed pool. I don’t think you have really lived until you have tried it.
We went on a jet ski tour of the island which was fun.
Stuart is like me, loves anything with an engine and being the curious men we are we like to see what happens when you go full speed.
We came off at top speed in the middle of the ocean. We were going so fast that we couldn’t penetrate the water, so there I was skimming the surface of the pacific ocean, trying not to laugh, then after checking on each other I looked up and saw the jet ski was 45 meters away.
So I started to swim.
At least my version of swimming which must have looked like I was panicking as the other jet skier’s offered advice and the tour guide plucked me from the water.
We came off at least 3 times.
When I used to ride motocross one of my friends used to say “if you’re not coming off you’re not learning”.
We circumnavigated the island which was REALLY rough, but I’m sure would be pleasant under calmer conditions.
I had a pair of board shorts on which ended up like a pair of Speedo’s because of the wind pushing them up my bum.
So the normally pasty milk white top of my legs got exposed to the sun and got fried, which made for a few uncomfortable days.
On the whole it was amazing.

Cabin Boy
If I ever join a single's website I am getting you to write my intro blurb. I didn't recognise myself there - well, maybe a little.
You didn't mention the bit about the girl at the bar who thought you had dressed up as a pirate and walked up to you and went "aarrr". The look on her face afterwards when she found out was priceless.
Have an awesome photo from cocktails on One Tree Hill that I will send through to you when I can download.
